Use of Picture Media for Sex Education in Students of SD Negeri 2 Selanbawak

Abstract

Sex is often considered a taboo subject, especially when it is discussed by children. Lack of education about sex among children can be one of the causes of the large number of cases of sexual crimes against children. There will be an increase in cases of violence against children by 30% in 2023, namely 3.547 cases consisting of: 54% cases of sexual violence, 28% physical violence and 18% psychological violence. Health workers play an important role in providing correct information according to the child's developmental stage. The use of interesting media in conveying information is one alternative. Pictures are an interesting medium and are liked by children because at this stage of their development it is easier to understand concrete examples contained in pictures. Method: This activity was carried out in October 2023, targeting elementary school students aged 10-12 years. The evaluation method used is qualitative, where students are given random questions to determine students' understanding of the sex education provided. Results: Evaluation shows students understand the sex education provided and are committed to implementing it in everyday life. Conclusion: Sex education using image media for students at SD Negeri 2 Selanbawak shows a positive impact, where the children are able to answer questions about sex education well and are committed to implementing it in their daily lives.
