Abstract

Playing games online is a product creation that is popular with all ages, but if played excessively it can have a negative impact on various aspects of life, including mental health and social behavior. Mental health problems affect 10-15% of children in the world and Indonesia is experienced by 9.8% of the total Indonesian population. The purpose of this research was to examine the correlation between playing online games and children's mental health at SDN 10 Sanur. This study used quantitative research with an observational analytical research method with a cross sectional approach. The sample included 118, aged selected through purposive sampling. Data were gathered using Game Addiction Scale and Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire. The data analysis was conducted using the Chi-Square test. The research results from 118 respondents indicated the majority experience moderate playing online games levels, with 100 respondents (84.7%). Normal mental health categories among 88 respondents (74.6%). Data analysis revealed a significant correlation between playing online games and children's mental health at SDN 10 with the p-value (<0,001). Based on the results, it could become a reference for healthcare professionals to review the mental health conditions of children at SDN 10 Sanur with professional experts
