The Correlation Knowledge, Attitudes, and The Role of Parents on HIV/AIDS Prevention Behavior Among Adolescents in Cilincing Sub-district, North Jakarta City in 2024

Abstract

HIV/AIDS is a disease that attacks the human immune system, specifically targeting CD4 cells, which are an important component of the immune system. DKI Jakarta is ranked 7th as the province with the most AIDS patients in the productive age group, it can be interpreted that the beginning of HIV infection until it enters the condition of AIDS which lasts 5-12 years, then the initial age of infection is around 15-29 years old in the adolescent age group category. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge, attitudes, and the role of parents in HIV/AIDS prevention behavior in adolescents. In this study, the methodology used was a quantitative approach with a cros sectional study design. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, data collection used was structured interviews using questionnaires. The statistical analysis used was bivariate analysis using the Chi Square test. The results of the bivariate test showed knowledge (p-value = 0.003 and PR = 1,770; 95% CI (1,111-2,820), and attitude (p-value = 0.034 and PR = 1,338; 95% CI (1,012-1,769). Knowledge and attitude variables have a significant relationship with HIV/AIDS prevention behavior in adolescents. Therefore, adolescents are encouraged to improve their knowledge and attitude in order to create consistency in preventing HIV/AIDS, and break the rope of spreading the virus.
