Optimalisasi Pengetahuan dan Sikap Remaja tentang Dampak Abortus Melalui Penerapan Snowball Throwing Method di SMA Negeri 6 Halmahera Utara

Abstract

Introduction: Illegal abortion currently often occurs in the teenage age category. This has a fatal impact on health both physically and psychologically. One of the risks is a serious infection that can cause bleeding and lead to death. Lack of good understanding about sexual knowledge and the act of abortion also has an impact on teenagers' attitudes and is one of the causes of this incident. One simple effort that can be made is by providing health education for students to increase good knowledge and positive attitudes among teenagers to prevent illegal abortion behavior. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of the Snowball Throwing Method on the level of knowledge and attitudes of adolescents regarding the impact of abortion. Method: Quantitative quasi-experimental research with one group pre-posttest design without a control group. The population in this study was all students with a total of 39 students, the sample used non-probability sampling with purposive sampling technique (n = 20). Results: There were significant changes in the pre-post-test results for the knowledge and attitude categories of adolescents. The results of the pretest and posttest knowledge values ??obtained p¬=value (0.000) then for pretest and posttest attitudes obtained p=value (0.000) using the Wilcoxon signed rank test. Conclusion: This method is effective in increasing teenagers' knowledge and attitudes about the impact of abortion, so it is recommended as a useful intervention for teenagers.
