The kangaroo method is the most effective way to maintain normal body temperature for LBW by holding the baby close to the mother's body with direct contact between the baby's skin and the mother's skin. This study aims to determine the effect of the kangaroo method on changes in body temperature in low birth weight (LBW) babies. This research design uses an experimental research design with a Pre-Experimental One Group Pretest-Posttest design. The sample in this study were all LBW who received kangaroo method treatment in the NICU Room at Dompu Regional Hospital from July to August 2023, namely 35 babies. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. Data were collected using measurements and observations, before and after the intervention was given, then analyzed using the Paired T-test with a significance level of 95% (? 0.05). The results showed that the average change in temperature after using the kangaroo method was 0.23oC. Based on the results of the analysis using the Paired T-test with an interpretation value obtained þ= 0.000 (?< 0.05), which means the kangaroo method has an effect on changes in LBW body temperature. From the research results, it is hoped that the kangaroo method of treatment will be used as a reference for treating hypothermia in low birth weight (LBW) babies.
