Post-placental intrauterine device (IUD) is an effective long-term contraceptive method; however, its utilization is influenced by various factors. Data from RSUD Dr. H. Moch Ansari Saleh Banjarmasin indicate an increasing trend in post-placental IUD use. This study aimed to analyze factors associated with the use of post-placental IUD, including age, parity, education, occupation, and type of delivery. This quantitative study employed a case-control design. Data were obtained from secondary medical record data of postpartum mothers at RSUD Dr. H. Moch Ansari Saleh Banjarmasin in 2022. Data analysis was conducted using univariate and bivariate statistical tests. The majority of respondents were aged 20–35 years (66.7%), multiparous (64.8%), had senior high school education (47.7%), worked as housewives (81.9%), and underwent cesarean section delivery (48.52%). Bivariate analysis showed no significant association between age and occupation with post-placental IUD use. However, parity (p=0.001), education level (p=0.008), and type of delivery (p=0.001) were significantly associated with post-placental IUD use. Parity, education level, and type of delivery are associated with post-placental IUD use, while age and occupation are not. These findings may support the improvement of postpartum family planning counseling and services.
