Family Support for Infant Measles Immunization

Abstract

Measles immunization coverage in Seulimeum District is relatively low every year and has never met the Universal Child Immunization (UCI) target, which is ideally 100 percent. Measles immunization coverage in 2019 reached 53.55%, this figure decreased to 33.75% in 2020. Based on an initial survey conducted on 15 mothers with babies, only 4 mothers fulfilled the complete immunization requirements for their babies up to measles immunization. This research aims to find out how family support is related to providing measles immunization to babies in Seulimeum District, Aceh Besar Regency. The methodology used in this research is an analytical survey with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study was all mothers who had babies aged 12 months in Seulimeum District totaling 228 people and the sample used was 69 mothers who had babies aged 12 months. The results of this study show that there is a relationship between family support and measles immunization with a p-value = 0.001. Based on the results of this research, it is hoped that health workers will provide further education about the importance of providing measles immunization to mothers and families, as well as provide support to mothers so that they are motivated to provide measles immunization on time..
